International Youth Music Festival – ASPIRE 2019

The buzz is growing across both Student Horizons offices, as many of our team are working hard on ASPIRE, our highly successful international youth music festival. Held over four consecutive days at The Star Gold Coast in 2019, it promises to be an event of stellar musical quality; providing young musicians the opportunity to connect and grow through a shared love of music.

As Peter Luff, the Artistic Director for ASPIRE 2017, said, The very high calibre of the industry and tertiary adjudicators and clinicians helped to make it an extra special music experience for the young musicians participating. The whole ASPIRE team is working to build upon the previous year’s success, and make the 2019 event bigger and better.

Our aim is to develop and grow ASPIRE from Queensland’s premier youth music festival into a festival with worldwide reach, bringing the best young musicians from all around the globe together to compete, showcase talent, and build friendships. Everyone at Student Horizons and on the ASPIRE team is excited to see what the student musicians produce at ASPIRE 2019, from returning schools to brand new participants.

The new location at The Star Gold Coast offers plenty of entertainment options, making ASPIRE a great occasion for the whole family to enjoy! The Gold Coast is famous for its theme parks and beautiful beaches, and The Star Gold Coast is located within a buzzing entertainment precinct, with plenty of restaurants, a theatre, spa, and gym.

One of the best ways for an interest to flourish is to connect with other people who share that interest, and that is the spirit of ASPIRE. Through collaborative learning, performance, and competition with their peers, participants will become even better musicians, creating pathways to future possibilities.

Every ASPIRE participant will get the benefits of competition, a masterclass, workshop and public performance. First, second and third places will be awarded in each of the categories, which are Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra, Jazz Band and Choral. Set pieces will be at a level four standard and will be announced on the ASPIRE website.
