Congratulations Billy on another great achievement with successfully summiting the highest mountain in Africa a few days ago.

Billy Gammon is an Ocean Rower and one of the Student Horizons Ambassadors.

Billy embodies Student Horizons’ mission. Through his awe-inspiring and successful ocean rowing achievements he has faced mammoth physical challenges and in doing so discovered much about himself and others.

As part of a four-man team Billy successfully rowed 81 days across the Indian Ocean and most recently he was one of six men in a successful rowing expedition to the North Pole.

Both expeditions took years of planning and preparation and were full of incredible highs and lows. They provided different experiences, new memories and life changing achievements. The‘Old Pulteney Row to the Pole’ expedition was particularly special as it presented Billy with the amazing opportunity to be part of one of the few remaining maritime world firsts!

“It gives me great pleasure to act as an Ambassador for Student Horizons, an organisation that undoubtedly understands the critical importance of overseas dynamic learning experiences in youth development. I have been hugely fortunate in the expeditions I have completed and I have learnt so much on the journeys undertaken. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my stories and help to inspire Kiwi students to take on challenges, discover other parts of the globe and achieve more.”
