Students on trips with Student Horizons and Camps International will contribute to a number of projects, from constructing school classrooms and supplying drinking water, to terrestrial and marine wildlife conservation, reforestation, environmental education and micro finance initiatives.

Camps International is a social enterprise that balances profits with philanthropy, operating an established network of international volunteer camps in rural communities and wildlife conservation areas.  Over the past 13 years camps have been established in Latin America, East Africa and South East Asia. Located where poverty levels are high and/or there are significant environmental and wildlife conservation challenges, most are established on community land and employ local people. The Camp International camps act as a hub from which Camps International run their wide range of sustainable volunteer projects and adventure activities for young people from around the globe.

Student Horizons is a leader in student travel for education and sporting tours and this new partnership allows Student Horizons to tap into this established global network for tours of a different nature. Both companies seek to assist youth to benefit from the experiential learning potential from international travel, helping to build confidence and achieve personal growth.

Jamie Wansey, Founder and Managing Director of  Student Horizons is excited to have secured the exclusive partnership; “What appeals to us most is the unique nature in which the Camps International programmes are run. Unlike other outfits their camps and projects are truly sustainable. Students and teachers alike will feel incredibly proud of the lasting impact on the local communities they have been fully integrated in.”

Stuart Rees Jones, Founder & CEO of Camps International said “Student Horizons has established a respected school travel brand and we share similar cultures with a focus on quality, safety and philanthropy, making us an excellent match.  We will be adding an additional dimension to Student Horizons established range of educational tours and sports trip and they in turn are well placed to represent us exclusively in New Zealand.”

He added “Camps International’s unique and award-winning operation of locally staffed and owned camps will enable Student Horizons to offer a wide range of worthwhile and sustainable service project and adventure based experiences.  We look forward to welcoming New Zealand students and staff in our camps around the globe in the coming years.”
