Sydney Music Tour

From pristine beaches to world-renowned music venues, the student ensembles from Hamilton Boys’ and Hamilton Girls’ High Schools were immersed in all that Sydney has to offer on their July 2018 music tour. The group spent just over a week exploring the colourful history that has shaped Sydney’s vibrant music and cultural scene.

While in the arts precinct of Australia’s largest city, the students toured iconic institutions such as the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, showing them first-hand why Sydney is one of the most notable music destinations in the world. The group was also lucky enough to attend Conservatorium High School’s Centenary Concert, which was an inspiring showcase of the level achievable by student orchestras.

The talented young musicians of Hamilton demonstrated their own dynamic repertoire at several public performance venues: they gave a concert to conclude the term at Stanmore Public School, braved brisk winds at Martin Place, played at the century old Paddington Uniting Church, and brought joy to many former musicians at Belrose Country Club Retirement Village.

The tour also included visits to Darling Harbour, Bondi Junction & Beach, Chinatown, some of the art Installations in Sydney’s Laneways, Paddy’s Markets, Taronga Zoological Park, Chinese Gardens of Friendship, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Manly Beach, and more.

The students represented their schools incredibly well throughout the tour and Student Horizons is proud to have worked with Hamilton Boys’ and Hamilton Girls’ High Schools to provide a memorable experience for students, supporters and staff alike.
